Iphoto Events to Aperture

Posted on February 23, 2010 | Category: Tutorials

So you just bought Apple’s premier photo management software Aperture. What do you do? Do you get rid of your Iphoto? Not so fast. I love my Iphoto and I will continue to use it. See, you can import all of your pictures into Aperture, input the metadata, do all of your organization, color correcting and what have you. THEN—you can take all of these beautiful photos and then create wonderful calendars, greeting cards, and other projects with Iphoto. Apple designed these two to work hand-in-hand. Now let’s say, you have all of your pictures housed in Iphoto. You don’t want to make the full switch to Aperture but want to bring some events in to play with and manage. How do you do it? Just like everything in Apple, it’s an easy process.

1. Open up both programs.
2. In Aperture, go to FILE > SHOW IPHOTO BROWSER

Open Iphoto Browser

3. You will see a little browser pop up. That’s your Iphoto browser!

4. Simply drag an event from your Iphoto browser to a project you’ve created in Aperture and that’s it!
